Weekly Wag 7/3-7/10
Exciting news for Apollo! We’re moving into our own facility! Our dogs will now have professional walk in kennels with their very own cots for sleeping. We are extremely grateful for receiving a large donation that was allocated for a permanent Apollo building. However, we will be leasing for now as not enough to buy right now. We will have limited space for paid boarding to help cover rent and utilities. This generous donation gave us a great opportunity to finally have our own place to call home. We have been waiting and planning for a long time and it’s both exciting and scary. Volunteers are welcome once we open our doors and will be very much needed. Many items will be needed as well so we can get started on the right foot( or paw ). We hope everyone can continue to support our efforts to make this a success. Thank you. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our efforts and the supplies we will need please do so here.

Furry Friends with Medical Needs

The surgery must be done as quickly as possible so please donate to save this precious baby. – See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/pinkie-and-her-heart-need-your-help-/199670#sthash.37MI5Git.dpuf
This sweet girl was saved from the shelter last week and was coughing up a storm. We already knew she was heartworm positive but thought she also might have URI/ Kennel Cough so she went on to the vet today. Well, it was discovered that sweet Khloe has congenital heart failure and a heart murmur . The vet will see her back in 2 weeks to determine how long she will have with us. If you would like to donate to her vet bill today and meds you can go to www.apollosupportandrescue.org/support/donate or call the vet directly at 817-467-6688 under Apollo.
Dart was found under a bridge in Dallas on Thanksgiving Week. The temperatures were dropping into the 20′s and it was time to get that boy rescued and into a warm home. He went to the vet on 11.29.13 and it was found he has sarcoptic mange. Not only has the mange been treated, but his heartworms are being treated as well. He has a grade 2/6 right-sided heart murmur and is recovering from his ordeal. Donations are still needed for him!
Shy was rescued from the Mesquite Shelter and was down to wire on getting put to sleep. Apollo Support & Rescue was able to find a foster just in time but when we got her she was very ill. We took her to the Animal Emergency Hospital where she was diagnosed with Parvo. She was hospitalized several days before she finally began to eat on her own. Shy went in for her follow up vet visit and is now is losing her hair and is diagnosed with Mange. This poor girl can’t catch a break. She has started treatment and is on the way to recovery once again. She has a great foster mom, April who is taking wonderful care of her.
Teddy was saved from the shelter after severe trauma to his ears.He is still not healing even after several rounds of antibiotics. He has ears that have had a bad crop job/ trauma and have closed up, so his ear canals are no longer open.He will need a very expense total ear canal ablation. Right now he is heartworm positive.Teddy is a wonderful sweet old soul who enjoys the company of older kids and dogs his size. He likes to be part of the group and not secluded or he feels left out. He still has some years left to live and this gentle giant deserves to have his health returned and to find his forever home.

This is Loki, 8 month old, male, beautiful pit bull. He was born into Apollo when we rescued his Momma, Violet, from the Garland shelter 9 months ago. His adopter regretfully has to return him to us, at no fault of his own, because of finan…cial difficulties and increasing school load. She will not be able to spend time with him anymore and she wants him to be in a home where he will have someone there for him more than she can be. He is a very sweet and loving boy! Loki is great with children and other dogs. He is also neutered and microchipped! He also knows some basic commands and is a well mannered young guy. If you are interested in giving Loki the home he needs please contact his foster mom at Melissa.firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set up a meeting time. Thank you!
We are ready for adoption on Saturday. Email email@example.com to apply and Adoption is $199 and includes voucher for spay/neuter when we are big enough. We think we are some kind of wonderful mix of lab/Shepard/heeler and we were told our mama was about 40lbs.
Ella is a 3-5 year old lab shepherd mix that is looking for a foster or forever home. She is very patient and calm. She loves to play fetch and will keep bringing the ball back if you keep throwing it. Ella also enjoys quiet time in the eve…ning chewing on a bone and just napping by the couch. She is very good to not chew furniture and sits on command. She is very trainable, she learned not to run out the door when company comes and not to jump up. She loves attention and to be petted and played with. She takes bathes without complaint and will get her nails trimmed if she is spoken to gently. Ella has never nipped, but will give you the occasional lick. Additionally, Ella doesn’t bark for no apparent reason. The only time I recall her barking is when another dog got into our back yard. She is friendly with other dogs, but will protect her owners and her home with some barking.
Check out all the animals Apollo has available.
Until next week, keep those tails wagging!
