FAQs

What do I have to do to adopt a pet from Apollo Support and Rescue?

Please fill out the application using the link:
https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Applications are reviewed by a staff member, then forwarded to the foster or facility to schedule meet-and-greets. We ask you to thoughtfully consider what kind of dog would fit well for your family now and for the lifetime of the pet. This is a commitment, and these animals are counting on you to be their family for the rest of their lives.

What is the adoption fee?

LOCAL ADOPTIONS:

Adult dogs under 65lbs: $200
Adult dogs over 65lbs and all puppies under 6mo: $300
Seniors: $100
Long-Timers: $50

Kittens up to 12 months old: $150
Adult Cats: $125
Senior Cats: $50

All animals will leave microchipped, dewormed, current on their age-appropriate immunizations, and heartworm tested if over 6 months. 30 days of free insurance is provided by 24Petwatch. A spay/neuter voucher is included for LOCAL puppy adoptions to be completed at 6 months of age through one of the approved locations listed on the voucher. If the dog is heartworm positive, Apollo covers the cost of treatment through our vets until a negative test is received.

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS:

Dogs/Puppies: $500 – includes transport fee

Adult Dog Bonded Pair: $800 – includes transport fee

Cats/Kittens: $250 – includes transport fee

All animals will leave microchipped, dewormed, current on their age-appropriate immunizations, heartworm tests if over 6 months, heartworm prevention, flea/tick prevention, and a health certificate. 24Petwatch provides 30 days of free insurance (this is not provided in Washington State). Puppies under 6 months are not spayed/neutered for their health – adopters agree to complete this at 6 months of age at their cost per the final adoption contract. Once completed, proof needs to be sent to inquire@apollosupportandrescue.org.

Can I volunteer at adoption events?

Our organization has many needs for volunteers and we can always use some helping hands.

Are you available on weekends to help walk our dogs, clean up after puppies, or be a friendly face to answer questions for adopters? Have you ever worked in grooming and can help with some beauty makeovers for these dogs? Do you like road trips? Sometimes our dogs are adopted a few hours away and we need help with home checks and delivery. Are you a writer who can submit dog-related articles for our blog? Maybe you have a couple of hours where you can make phone calls to follow up on our adopted dogs that need to show that they fulfilled their commitment to get their dog spayed or neutered?

How are donations used?

Donations are used to provide care and medical treatment for our rescue animals until they are adopted. We supply fosters with all needed supplies. We also have a facility with 3 buildings that house 90+ dogs on the property. We fundraise for specific projects and improvements so everyone knows what they are donating to. Everyone on the Board of Directors is a volunteer.

Where do you rescue dogs from?

We rescue dogs from shelters throughout Texas, focusing mainly on the DFW area, but pulling from others when we can. We also take in many stray and abandoned animals from the streets. When space allows, we do accept owner surrenders. We believe in second chances.
